Art Jakarta 2023: The Grand Southeast Asian Art Fair

Art Jakarta, a highly anticipated international art fair in Indonesia, returns triumphantly in 2023. It is scheduled for November 17-19, 2023, and this year’s edition promises to celebrate art expression in a larger and more state-of-the-art venue – JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta.

Art Jakarta 2023 Changing the Venue

Traditionally, the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) Senayan, Central Jakarta, hosted Art Jakarta. However, this year is embracing a fresh location. This year, the event welcomes galleries not only from Indonesia but also from neighboring Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam.

A Global Showcase

The global allure of Art Jakarta continues to grow as exhibitors from China, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Russia, and Australia eagerly join in. These international participants are enthusiastic about presenting fresh creations by their talented artists. After a successful edition last year, the fair further solidifies its reputation as a significant platform for the exchange of contemporary art in Southeast Asia, strategically positioned in the region’s largest art market.

A Change of Plans

Earlier this year, Art Jakarta had to adjust its plans. The Indonesian government decided to host the 43rd ASEAN Summit in September at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), leading to the need for a comprehensive site renovation. This renovation affects all events scheduled at JCC, including Art Jakarta 2023.

As a result, Art Jakarta 2023 relocated to JIExpo Kemayoran, a venue with similar facilities capable of supporting an international art fair. Despite the change in dates and location, Art Jakarta remains committed to presenting Art Jakarta 2023 as the foremost art fair in Southeast Asia.
